Wonwell class visit to Becky Falls
As our topic is 'Enchanted Woodland', Becky Falls seemed like the perfect choice for our class trip. First we followed a blue trail, collecting stamps on a card along the way. We found Hazel, Beech and Oak trees and talked about how we can identify them without their leaves. Then we had a talk about lichen from Pippa. She told us about two kinds, called 'String of sausages' and 'Witches whiskers'. It was very exciting to find some of our own! Then we went to the animal encounter room where Sadie spent an hour showing us different animals. We got to feel spiny stick insects, a tortoise, a rat, a blue tongued skink, which is a type of lizard and a corn snake. Finally we followed the red trail along the river, over boulders and bridges. We had spotter cards with objects to find. Every time we found one, we used a paper punch to stamp out a leaf shape. We also stopped by the waterfall and drew pictures of things that caught our attention. An amazing day, topped off by being told that we were one of the nicest schools they had to visit!
